Dear Fellow Honorary Commanders:

We hope this note finds you well. With everyone’s busy schedules, in lieu of a Holiday party event this year for the class, we have opted to host an event in the week following Veterans Day just before Thanksgiving.

WHO: Our program is in existence to educate us all about the importance of the military installations in our area and we feel it is vital for a class for us to make an effort to help give back to the military families in our region. We are going to attempt to accomplish this for our Honorary Commanders Class by hosting “A Night of Thanking Our Troops.”

WHY: Before the end of 2016 we will have more than 5,000 service men and women deployed from Pittsburgh area military installations. This is more than 5 times the number of service members we normally have deployed in a given year. Recently with cuts to the defense budgets, many family support areas have been effected, including the elimination of the Army Strong Community Center which was located on the 316th base and was a very utilized resource for our military families in the area across branches of service.

WHERE: The “A Night Of Thanking Our Troops” event will be held on November 17th from 6pm – 9pm at Bella Sera, owned and operated by Jason Capps – a current member of this year’s Honorary Commanders Class. Tres Lads will be performing as the headline entertainment for the evening.

WHAT: Admission tickets to the event will be $50 and will include delicious Italian fare and a portion of the ticket sales being used to support local installation Family Readiness programs.

In addition we are working with all of the installations to identify current needs and have several ideas to implement ways to garner further support from attendees of the event. All donations will be made and distributed to families and family readiness offices by 501(c)(3) Heroes Supporting Heroes, which is a local military support organization.

HOW: Attached please find a flyer that describes the event. Tickets are available for sale here.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are asking all current members of Honorary Commanders Class as the hosts of this event, to please reach out to your network of contacts to share the invitation and encourage people to attend this event so we can provide much needed support to our local military families on behalf of our class.

We have included text below that you can easily cut and paste into an email or social media post for your convenience.

As a class, we will be extending this invitation to all alumni of the Honorary Commanders Program, the Military Affairs Council of Western PA, as well as the Military Relations Committee of the Pittsburgh Area Airport Chamber of Commerce and ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.)

NEXT STEPS: We are in need of volunteers to help coordinate the event. If you are interested in attending a planning meeting please let Kristi know by responding to this email.

Together we can make a difference for the brave men and women and their families that serve our country in our region.

Best,
Kristi & Rochelle
