The Pennsylvania Air National Guard’s 171st Air Refueling Wing honors the memory of those sacrificed their lives to save others during the attacks on 9/11 by displaying a nose art on Sept. 11, 2023. The nose art displays the words “Lets Roll” which were spoked by flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer as he and other passengers attempted to regain control of the hijacked aircraft and crashed it into a field near Shanksville Pennsylvania, saving the lives at the hijackers intended target. Why

The absence of the annual local airshow has left a void in the interaction opportunities between local military units and the communities of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Because of a variety of factors, the Air Force units indicate the possibility of the next airshow will not be until 2026. We truly hope that the airshow returns in the future, hopefully even sooner than that.

Our vision is to increase awareness of the missions of all service branches in the Greater Pittsburgh area and neighboring communities to assist in recruiting and retention in military service. We believe bringing units and residents of the region together will increase young Americans' attraction to join local military units. We will include displays from all branches on a ramp of the Pittsburgh International Airport, including military land and sea vehicles, various military aircraft, and other displays to entice young Americans to volunteer to serve in the military as well as showcase the capabilities to the American public.
