The Department of Defense’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation released its Fiscal Year 2020 Defense Spending by State supplemental report. This report documents the results of a state-by-state analysis of Department of Defense personnel and contractual spending during Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania ranks #9.

This snapshot provides public and private leaders with a starting place to assess the businesses and workers presently supporting our nation’s defense, so they may plan and carry out the necessary transformations to remain competitive, be responsive to our future national security needs, and remain resilient to natural and man-made threats.

An additional supplemental report is an analysis of DoD contract and personnel spending in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands of the United States.
